Human Centric Lighting

Throughout Priority Care we have Human Centric Lighting (HCL).

HCL is the art of creating lighting that mimics the natural daylight that drives our bodily functions. This technology gives Priority Care the freedom to adapt the lighting throughout the home, to improve the comfort, health, and well-being of the residents, by balancing the light to improve alertness and concentrations, during learning, activities, socialising and or relaxing time.

The biological benefits include residents feeling more relaxed, with less strain on their eyes, resulting in fewer headaches, better quality of sleep and a general better feeling of physical wellbeing.

Paintings by Scott Naismith

Scott Naismith’s approach to painting draws upon a tremendous energy and positivity, which is reflected in the themes of hope and optimism that infuse his work. The strong use of block colours and imagery is what highlights Scott’s work. Research suggests these features are a contributing factor to stimulate residents with dementia, which is the main reason why we decided to display these throughout the building. Each painting has been carefully selected in accordance with the relevance and colours used per floor.

Wireless nurse call systems

Our nurse call system is supplied by the UK’s number one supplier to the Assisted Living and Healthcare sector, which you will find in large healthcare organisations and hospitals such as Bradford Royal Infirmary. This advanced technology ensures we are using the best software to swiftly aid in the care of our residents in a safe and timely manner.

Anti-Bacterial paint

When bacteria comes into contact with walls, it can spread across the surface which may lead to an increased risk of harmful infections. The Anti-Bacterial paint is proven to actively inhibit MRSA and E-Coli, giving yourself more peace of mind that Priority Care is further protected in every corridor and residents’ rooms. Throughout the building, Anti-Bacterial paint has been used to ensure a continuity of safeness. Specific colours have been painted on each floor which are explained overleaf.

Store Fronts

Memory Lane: The purpose of Memory Lane is to allow residents to reflect and browse on the historical wonders that Bradford boasts using a display of pictures. These are well-known sights / buildings e.g. Lister Park and Salt Mills.

Sweets: This store front offers residents with a vast selection of traditional sweets displayed in maison jars. Therefore, imitating a general sweet shop – just how our residents would have enjoyed. This area also adds colour and vibrance to the corridor which studies have shown to be beneficial to residents with dementia.

Post Office: No store front is complete without a Post Office and Priority Care cannot be without one. The purpose of this Post Office is to bring a sense of routine to the residents’ every day life e.g. purchasing a newspaper, greeting cards and stationery etc. This Post Office is also available to visitors.

Haberdashery: The use of colour and practicality is of paramount importance to Priority Care. This store front will showcase colourful yarns and tools for the residents to select and use, at their own disposal.

Salon

Within Priority Care residents will find a purpose-built beauty and grooming salon. Available for residents to enjoy at their leisure. Priority Care offer residents the opportunity to visit the hairdresser, Nail technician, Chiropodist, beauty, and holistic therapists. We believe at Priority Care allowing our residents the opportunity for pampering, generates a positive feeling of well-being and self-purpose.

The Communal Area

Within Priority Care, residents will be able to relax in one of three communal areas.

  • Main Lounge: Residents can use the lounge from morning to evening, to watch TV, socialise or play board games with fellow residents. The main lounge will also play home to the weekly activities, including bingo, karaoke, exercise classes and many more. Making the lounge a hub of activity, for the residents to feel stimulated and engaged.
  • Quiet Lounge: Should any resident want quiet relaxing time; they can relax in the sitting room. With a TV available alongside reading material, this lounge is a quiet place for residents to relax and unwind.
  • Dining Room: Within this area, residents will also find the Dinning Room. A light, airy and welcoming space in which they will enjoy their three daily meals. A digital menu placed on the wall will allow residents to familiarise themselves with the meals available that week.
